PROJECT SPACE
ANDY GEORGE ROBERTSON
May 2 - June 7, 2019
NEW YORK – 57W57Arts is pleased to bring together four artists whose work oscillates between the readily familiar and the stirringly surreal. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, May 2nd and the exhibitions will be on view to the public through June 7th.
Under the curation of Andy George Robertson, the gallery’s Waiting Room and Project Space features paintings by Ed Robertson, Andy’s father and frequent collaborator. On view are recent paintings alongside smaller canvases set in handmade, wood frames, some of which date back to the 1970’s. Ed Robertson’s vibrant landscapes take on a visual and conceptual twist as he paints into these pastoral scenes the temporary outdoor sculptures of his son Andy. One of Andy’s freestanding, mixed media-based sculptures is exhibited in the Project Space.
ANDY GEORGE ROBERTSON | Andy's Room
April 30 - June 12, 2015
Andy Robertson (@onderdonx) has created an installation for the WAITING ROOM consisting of his collection of prints, paintings, posters, books, catalogs, and art cards he’s collected over the years – on eBay, Amazon, etc.. Since the WAITING ROOM is an actual waiting room, Andy created a space where he’d like to wait. The focus is on abstract art (and the art world) of the late 60’s and early 70’s – Sven Lukin, Larry Zox, Georg Karl Pfahler – but there’s a whole bunch of other stuff as well. Come by; have a seat; hang out; look at a bunch of interesting things; think about the vicissitudes of art and culture.
