SEAN SULLIVAN | WEST/END/BLUES
April 28 - June 9, 2017
Opening Reception: Friday, April 28th, 6-9pm
In the gallery’s Back Room, Sean Sullivan will present WEST / END / BLUES, a selection of works made within a four week period at the tail end of what the artist describes as a very long creative push in a single direction. These pieces were made in reaction to this singularly-focused time; a deliberate change of course, allowing for play, experimentation and chance to unfold. To engage in such a process, Sullivan states: “It means to discover and not necessarily find. It has no history, mythology or romance tied to it. Is it a beginning or an end? Too soon to tell. I would simply call it sound.”
Born in 1975, Sean Sullivan has had work in several solo, two-person and group exhibitions throughout New York and Chicago. Recent solo shows include Sunset, Saudad Station, at Devening Projects + Editions (Chicago); Ubbe & Sacco at 510 Warren Street Gallery (Hudson, NY); Object and Influence at Hygienic Gallery (New London, CT) and Son of a Son of a Son at KMOCA (Kingston, NY). Sullivan lives and works in Hudson Valley, NY.
