"I started making the maquettes around 2009, I was out of work and scrounging for materials…I got the initial idea from a small Christmas Village my grandmother had that was made of card stock and hot glue…. All the houses had red cellophane windows and single little lights that came in through a hole cut in the bottom of the models….years later I started using the maquettes as rough drafts of pieces I was making in ceramic…I’m still pretty much doing the same thing today, though the maquettes have lives of their own and are not always used as the basis for a sculpture in clay….I’m still fascinated by colored light, and what can be accomplished with humble materials…..Wednesday June 1st 2022" - BP
